In today’s highly competitive environment, businesses are becoming more aware of the need to invest in skills training. Equipment productivity and reliability depends on the skillful accomplishment of maintenance practices and there is a clear relationship between maintenance practices, equipment productivity and bottom-line profit.
• Bearings and Power Transmission products are critical components in production efficiency, and fitting and maintenance practices are critical in ensuring their design life is achieved.
• Evidence suggests that 95% of equipment failure is caused by improper installation of replacement parts and maintenance practices. CBC staff are factory trained by the product manufacturers in correct installation procedures.
• CBC offers a range of options for customers to access our training expertise in the correct fitting and maintenance of bearings and power transmission components.
• An accredited training course and a wide variety of non accredited training courses have been designed to meet the demand for skills training in maintenance practices.
• CBC can tailor a complete training package to specifically meet customer’s individual needs and time frames for presentation on or off site.
• All CBC training courses incorporate world’s best practice, up-to-date techniques and information; include the use of hands-on training equipment; are conducted by qualified workplace trainers; and are offered Australia-wide for the convenience of our customers.
The nationally accredited training course, delivered under the auspices of the South Queensland Institute of TAFE and the Queensland Government Department of Education and Training, comes from MEM053 Metal and Engineering Training Package. The Unit of Competency, MEM18005B Perform fault diagnosis, installation and removal of bearings (a unit in the Certificate IV in Engineering), covers bearing terminology, bearing theory and application, sealing, bearing housings and basic bearing failure analysis.
Other training courses available include:

Customised Wall Charts
CBC’s range of practical, detailed, comprehensive wall charts contain all the essential information required when checking and repairing (or manufacturing) shafts, and maintaining bearings and housings to ensure the maximum life and efficiency of the unit’s bearings.
The charts bring together information that is available from bearing manufacturers catalogues and engineering handbooks in a functional and user-friendly format.
The charts form part of our training program and are available for purchase.
Wall charts can be designed and customised for specific applications.

Mobile Bearing Training Unit
CBC Engineers in Western Australia originally designed the Mobile Bearing Training Unit (MBTU) to train Rio Tinto’s maintenance personnel in the installation of conveyor pulley bearings. CBC helped this customer develop and document these standards.
The unit’s training capabilities have been improved to be relevant to a wider customer base, and the skills addressed in the unit now apply to all bearings in all applications.
The course includes a comprehensive range of catalogues and handbooks from all major bearing manufacturers, ensuring that course participants receive complete, objective training.
The training course work book is designed to enable course participants to actively engage in the training and to record information about the fitting of any bearing to any application.
The eight-hour course is designed for a maximum of six participants, and includes training in the following:
